Since 1985, the Mt Lebanon Nature Conservancy has introduced 3rd grade students to the diversity and wonder of nature in our local parks through the School in the Park program.  During the interactive program, students explore forest, stream and field edge habitats and learn about native birds and invertebrates at stations throughout Bird Park.  The program highlights unique aspects of each habitat, adaptations of the species to their habitats, and the impact of people on our natural areas.  Each station is facilitated by an adult instructor and high school volunteers.  At the present time, all third grade students in the Mt Lebanon School District participate in the School in the Park program for a half day each spring.
